If Orissa is a state you’ve always meant to visit, there’s no better time than now. We proudly present the “Magical Tour of Orissa” a carefully curated road journey that takes you through the heart of this magnificent state, unveiling its rich cultural heritage, ancient temples, scenic landscapes, and vibrant local life.
Our Journey at a Glance
On this tour, we cover all the major cities of Odisha, starting from Raipur by road. Thanks to recently constructed world-class expressways, the drive itself becomes part of the experience — smooth, scenic, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Our stops:
- Raipur → Sambalpur
- Sambalpur → Cuttack
- Cuttack → Bhubaneswar
- Bhubaneswar → Puri
Raipur to Sambalpur
The adventure begins at our Raipur head office early in the morning at 7:00 AM, following a hearty breakfast to fuel the day ahead. We recommend booking a Mid-SUV or higher segment vehicle for comfort on long drives — though all vehicle options remain available based on group size and preference.
The 270 km stretch to Sambalpur takes approximately 5–6 hours and winds through some of central India’s most picturesque terrain, offering glimpses of dense forests, rural life, and rolling hills along the way.
Upon arrival, the day is yours to explore. Sambalpur is a city deeply rooted in devotion and tradition. The iconic Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple draws pilgrims and tourists alike with its serene atmosphere and spiritual energy. The highlight, however, is the magnificent Hirakud Dam — one of the longest earthen dams in the world — offering sweeping views of the reservoir at sunset. Strolling through the local bazaars, sampling regional snacks, and soaking in the unhurried pace of the city rounds off a wonderful first day before an early rest in preparation for tomorrow.
Sambalpur to Cuttack to Bhubaneswar
Day two covers meaningful ground — both in kilometers and in cultural richness. We depart for Cuttack, 260 km from Sambalpur, a historic city that wears its heritage proudly on every street corner. In Cuttack, we visit the Buddha Temple, a place of quiet spiritual beauty and architectural elegance. A must-visit stop is the Netaji Birth Place Museum, dedicated to the great freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, born right here in this city — a deeply moving experience for history lovers. We also explore the ruins of the ancient Barabati Fort, which stands as a proud reminder of Cuttack’s medieval glory. Street food lovers will rejoice — Cuttack’s lanes are legendary for their spicy and flavourful local delicacies that should not be missed. Since Cuttack is only 25 km from Bhubaneswar, we make our way to Odisha’s capital the same evening, checking in by around 7:00 PM. Guests enjoy a relaxed evening with snacks, dinner at 9:00 PM, and a comfortable night’s rest ahead of the most spiritually significant day of the tour.
Bhubaneswar to Puri
The final leg of our journey is the most awaited. Puri is just 61 km from Bhubaneswar — a breezy 90-minute drive — and as you approach the coast, the air itself changes: salty, fresh, and alive with the sound of waves.
All travellers check into a hotel conveniently located near the Puri Beach, one of India’s most beloved seaside destinations. After a quick refresh, head straight to the beach where the Bay of Bengal welcomes you with open arms. A dip in the sea is highly recommended — towels and change of clothes can await back at the hotel. The undisputed centrepiece of Puri — and the inspiration behind our tour’s name — is the Shri Jagannath Temple, one of the four sacred Dhams of Hinduism and one of the holiest sites in the entire world. A knowledgeable guide will accompany all travellers, sharing the temple’s extraordinary legends, architectural marvels, and the many inexplicable miracles associated with Lord Jagannath. The experience is profound, humbling, and truly magical. Post-temple, the remainder of the day is free for personal exploration. We strongly recommend a visit to the stunning Chilika Lake — Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon — where you can spot playful Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat. Before heading back, don’t leave Puri without tasting Khaja, the city’s famous flaky, syrup-soaked sweet that has been crafted here for centuries.
Farewell
The next morning, all travellers depart from Puri back to Raipur, carrying with them not just photographs but memories that will last a lifetime. The Magical Tour of Orissa lives up to its name — every mile, every temple, every bite, and every sunset makes it an experience worth reliving.
Book your seats today — Orissa is calling.
